Putting Minnesota before Politics

My husband Nick and I have been married for 17 wonderful years.  Together, we've traveled to more than 30 countries and explored over half the states in the U.S. These experiences have broadened our perspectives and deepened our appreciation for living in the U.S.

Along with my career in marketing, I also previously worked as a freelance makeup artist, which taught me firsthand the challenges and rewards of small business ownership.

When I'm not working, you may find me at the gym, trying to keep a garden, baking, or out hiking the trails and natural areas that make living in this part of Minnesota so special.

Hi, I’m Darrick Law. My husband and I moved to Duluth four years ago after living most of my life in different suburbs around the Twin Cities. We chose Duluth in large part for its beauty and access to nature, but also because of its affordability compared to where we had come from.

Over the past few years, however, rising costs, inflation, and taxes have made it harder for individuals and families, including ours, to get ahead. Looking around, I realized people across Minnesota are feeling all these same pressures and wondering whether they'll be able to afford a home, save for the future, or stay in the communities they've built their lives around.

Rather than simply complain about the challenges we face, I decided to step forward and try to be part of the solution.

I don’t come from politics. My day-to-day work is in marketing project management. That means I’m good at seeing the big picture, knowing how to ask questions, doing research, determining outcomes and timelines, and communicating with diverse groups of thinkers.

It also means I can see through the tactics of most political entities. Too many choose to focus on national party, high-level agendas that have little to no direct impact on the day-to-day lives of most people.

Minnesota deserves leaders who will deliver balanced budgets and make principled decisions that strengthen the prosperity and integrity of our state.

Election Integrity

Every eligible voter, no matter the party, deserves confidence that elections are secure, accurate, and transparent. Clear rules, consistent procedures, and strong safeguards help maintain public trust in the electoral process while protecting every lawful vote. I will support voter identification requirements, election security measures, and transparent election administration.

Term Limits

Our government was never meant to be made up of career politicians who don’t remember what it's like to have a normal job. Fresh perspectives and new ideas will help strengthen our government and help ensure elected officials remain connected to the people they represent. I will support implementing term limits for all offices.

A.I.

Technology and artificial intelligence is advancing rapidly. Minnesota should encourage innovation while making privacy protection a top concern. I will support protection laws against scams, fraud, exploitation, and deceptive uses of AI technology.

Healthcare & Mental Health

Minnesota is well recognized for high-quality healthcare and strong community health programs. Every Minnesotan should have access to affordable care and effective mental health services. We must support programs that have proven outcomes and strengthen local healthcare providers.  I will support access to healthcare & wellness programs, proven mental health & addiction recovery resources, and strong community hospitals and clinics.

Energy, Infrastructure & Environment

Strong infrastructure and affordable energy are the backbone of a competitive economy, and we don't want Minnesota to fall behind. We need modern roads, a reliable grid, and an all-of-the-above energy strategy that prioritizes independence, affordability, and job creation without sacrificing the environment that makes this region, and Minnesota as a whole, worth living in. I will support infrastructure funding, cost-reducing energy innovation, and holding companies fully accountable when they put profits ahead of people or our natural resources.

Taxes

Minnesota taxpayers face high tax rates compared to our neighboring states. Lowering these rates would allow you to keep more of what you earn and make Minnesota more competitive for businesses.  I will support targeted tax relief for individuals, workers and businesses while also looking to reduce unnecessary regulations that hinder economic growth.

Fraud

Over $1 billion has been lost to fraud and abuse of our system; that is money that was quite literally stolen from Minnesota taxpayers. Fraud, waste, and poor oversight have no place in government. I will support stronger audits, increased oversight, and real accountability to prevent abuse and ensure public funds are used responsibly for the people who truly need them.

Budget

Individuals need to be responsible with their money, and governments spending taxpayer dollars need to do the same. Minnesotans deserve a budget that prioritizes essential services, protects taxpayer dollars, and eliminates wasteful spending. Every dollar spent should be transparent, accountable, and focused on delivering results for our communities.  I will support responsible budgeting, spending oversight, and greater transparency in government finances.
